Representatives from Council for World Mission (CWM) member churches in East Asia gathered in Singapore from 27 – 29 August for the East Asia Mission Support Programme V (MSP-V) Regional Round Table.
The Round Table brought together 15 delegates representing the Presbyterian Church of Myanmar (PCM), Gereja Presbyterian Malaysia (GPM), Presbyterian Church of Korea (PCK), Hong Kong Council of the Church of Christ in China (HKCCCC), Presbyterian Church in Singapore (PCS), and Presbyterian Church in Taiwan (PCT).
During the gathering, mission enablers, project and finance managers, technical facilitators, and church representatives worked together to translate their contextual mission priorities into sustainable action through the development of concrete proposals.
Laying the groundwork
Building on the wider journey of revisioning mission, the gathering introduced participants to the MSP-V concept, framework, roadmap, and toolkits. Sessions covered project proposal development; administration and finance; project monitoring, evaluation, and learning; risk management; and sustainability.
Participants also engaged with practical tools, including problem-tree and solution-tree exercises, helping them examine challenges within their contexts, identify priorities, and develop potential responses rooted in the realities of their churches and communities.
“No church is too small to give, and no church is too big to receive and be enriched by the wisdom and witness of the wider community,” said CWM Mission Secretary for Finance Soonyew Sum.
Sum emphasised that CWM’s global partnership is rooted in recognising and maximising the gifts, experiences, and wisdom of each member church.
Participants particularly welcomed the practical guidance on the MSP-V toolkit; project monitoring, evaluation, and learning; and proposal development.
Group discussions also created opportunities for churches to learn about one another’s contexts, share experiences, and explore possibilities for future collaboration.
The Round Table concluded with programme evaluation, closing reflections, and a reaffirmation of the region’s shared commitment to continue refining MSP-V proposals and strengthening partnerships.
