Presbyterian Church of Vanuatu holds first executive meeting in Santo

The Assembly Executive of the Presbyterian Church of Vanuatu (PCV) held its first executive meeting of 2026 from 14 to 16 April at Kalomoana Church in the Maringo Session, Santo Presbytery.

The meeting marked the first executive gathering chaired by Moderator Ps. Firiam Kalmara Tony outside the PCV Head Office and his first official visit to Santo since assuming leadership of the church following the 2025 General Assembly.

Chaired by the moderator and clerk of the Presbyterian Church of Vanuatu, the meeting brought together the clerks of PCVs 11 presbyteries, heads of institutions, heads of departments under the PCV Head Office, and the president and general secretary of the Presbyterian Women Missionary Union (PWMU).

Assembly Executive members reviewed reports from more than 20 standing committees, with discussions focusing on preparations for the General Assembly Meeting, which will be held from 18 to 26 July. Key discussions also centred on strategic decisions and recommendations to be presented to the General Assembly.

Kalomoana Session Elder Graham Lele, chairperson of the local organising committee, said the community was honoured to host the gathering.

Lele noted that previous executive meetings had been held in Port Vila and surrounding areas on Efate. He said the decision to meet in Santo aligns with national efforts to decentralise services and major activities beyond the capital.
