South Asia MSP-V Round Table strengthens shared regional vision for life-flourishing communities

The Council for World Mission (CWM) convened the South Asia Mission Support Programme V (MSP-V) Round Table in Bangkok, Thailand, from 7-8 August, following the South Asia Regional Assembly.

The Round Table brought together 18 participants, including representatives responsible for finance from CWM’s four South Asian member churches, to deepen their understanding of MSP-V and discern mission priorities within their respective contexts.

The second in a series of six regional gatherings, the Round Table invited participants to explore contextual mission from the margins and the revisioning of mission through devotions, shared prayers, and theological reflection.

The gathering also created space for member churches to explore opportunities for resource sharing, church-to-church exchanges, and future collaboration. Participants were encouraged to continue these conversations within their churches after returning home.

Throughout the two-day gathering, practical workshops introduced participants to biblical discernment and project concept design, helping member churches translate theological and contextual reflection into concrete mission initiatives.

“Although the mission priorities across the South Asia region are diverse, they point towards a shared vision of Life-Flourishing Communities. These are not communities that have ‘arrived’, but communities that continue to listen, discern, learn, and be transformed as they participate in God’s mission,” said Rev. Dr Minwoo Oh, CWM mission secretary for Mission Programme and Partnership, who leads MSP-V.

The MSP-V team also presented the proposal approval process, giving participants greater clarity on the steps, expectations, and support available as they prepare their mission proposals.

Participants welcomed the interactive and collaborative nature of the Round Table, particularly the opportunity to learn from diverse regional perspectives and engage in practical discussions on planning, reporting, and accountability.

The gathering concluded with presentations from member churches outlining their respective MSP-V planning roadmaps and how their emerging mission priorities could be developed within local contexts.
