The Council for World Mission (CWM) Annual Members’ Meeting (AMM) concluded in Auckland, New Zealand, on 24 June, with delegates endorsing key strategic priorities that will shape the organisation’s journey towards Jubilee 2027 and Assembly 2028.
Representing CWM’s global partnership of 36 member churches, delegates affirmed the Jubilee Plan 2027–2028 as the guiding framework for celebrating God’s faithfulness, renewing CWM’s missional vision, and strengthening justice-centred witness across the communion.
Presenting the Jubilee update, CWM Mission Secretary for the General Secretariat Rev. Dileep Kandula explained that the Jubilee journey is built around several strategic goals, including truth-telling, restorative justice, intergenerational leadership, missional renewal, and public witness. Rather than a single event, the Jubilee will unfold through congregational, denominational, regional, and global gatherings.
The AMM also received updates on the Mission Support Programme V (MSP-V). Presenting its vision, CWM Mission Secretary for Mission Programme and Partnership Rev. Dr Minwoo Oh described MSP-V as a renewed approach to mission that moves from relationships of “power over” to “power within,” enabling member churches and local communities to identify and develop their own gifts, resources, and mission priorities.
Delegates also reflected on the future direction of The Onesimus Project (TOP). Presenting the report, TOP Core Working Group Chairperson Rev. Dr Roderick Hewitt said the initiative should become more deeply embedded in the lives and witness of member churches, serving not simply as a programme but as a movement for reparative justice, reconciliation, and liberation in response to the enduring legacies of slavery and colonialism.
The AMM approved Taiwan as the venue for the CWM Jubilee launch in July 2027, with the Presbyterian Church in Taiwan (PCT) serving as the host church.
Delegates also confirmed Wales as the host location for the CWM Assembly 2028. The Assembly will be hosted jointly by the Presbyterian Church of Wales (PCW) and the Union of Welsh Independents (UWI), in collaboration with the other CWM member churches in Wales: The United Reformed Church (URC) and the Congregational Federation (CF).
The meeting concluded with a closing worship service and Holy Communion at Avondale Union Parish, sending delegates back to their churches with a renewed commitment to accompany one another in God’s mission as CWM journeys towards Jubilee 2027 and Assembly 2028.
