16 Days of Activism: Transformative Masculinity Interventions to promote Positive Masculinity

Gender-based violence (GBV) is a global public health issue rooted in societal gender inequalities. It is exacerbated by factors such as armed conflict, natural disasters, and disease outbreaks.

Taking place from 25 November to 10 December, the “16 Days of Activism” is an annual international campaign that aims to raise awareness and mobilise action to end all forms of gender violence.

The campaign is planned to take place across and within the varied communities of CWM member churches, and will cover four key areas with their associative activities:

Advocacy

  1. Faith-based campaigns and conversations on GBV
  2. Men speaking up as allies for gender justice

Workshops and Seminars

  1. Exploring masculinity through theology, repentance and healing
  2. Safe spaces for honest reflection

Community Awareness

  1. Local forums mobilising churches for gender justice

Capacity Building

  1. Training men and boys to model positive masculinity
