Prophets from the South

T his book series is envisioned as a dedication to alternative, critical and marginal voices that have contributed to a bold theological and missiological vision of liberation and life for all. It seeks to reflect on these voices that have emerged from the geo-political South with a view to acknowledging and celebrating their contribution as an offering to the global Christian community and a continuing inspiration for all those who continue to struggle for a just world.

The first in the series honoured Professor Allan Boesak, pastor and reformed theologian, who championed the resistance to and dismantling of apartheid in South Africa and the demolition of its theological underpinnings.

The second volume in the series remembers the contribution of M.M Thomas, who did not find a legitimate place in either the church or the Communist Party, but who inspired a generation into solidarity with the poor and oppressed and sought a new way of doing theology on the edge.
