Workshop on Re-imagining Worship
November 30 - December 7
Re-imagining Worship as Rituals of Defiance & Alternatives in the Context of Empire
As a faith community, worship is central to the calling of the church. It inspires the community to translate the mission of redemption and healing into radical social transformation. While liturgies are often done based on church traditions and documents, the workshop from 30 November to 7 December, in Kingston, Jamaica intends to create a new methodology for the creation of liturgy. Participants will be sent to local communities to experience first-hand the struggles of the people and their fight for survival, before creating life-affirming liturgical resources that arise from the cries of those in suffering. It is hoped that these alternative liturgical resources will go towards helping local churches to be in deeper connection and communion with the poor.
