Dear friends, brothers and sisters in Christ
I greet you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ and pray God’s richest blessings on you and the community of faith you are called to lead.
I write to you to inform you that the CWM Board of Directors met and agreed to commence the search for a new General Secretary for CWM. The search is to facilitate the appointment of a new CWM General Secretary as the current CWM General Secretary, Rev Dr Collin Isaiah Cowan’s term of office will expire end December 2020. The Board of Directors seeks to recommend a suitable candidate to the Annual Members’ Meeting for appointment in the coming June 2020 Meeting.
The Board of Directors has also appointed a seven (07)-member Search Committee led by the Very Reverend Pamela Tankersley from the Presbyterian Church of Aotearoa New Zealand (PCANZ). Rev Tankersley is well-positioned to lead this important task as she has a long-standing association with CWM and served as CWM Moderator from August 2015 to June 2016 Assembly when the current Board was elected into office. Rev Tankersley will lead the Search Committee to:
- Develop a comprehensive search and selection process;
- Establish the screening criteria and participate in the process of shortlisting of relevant candidates
- Propose and recommend a shortlist of best possible candidates to the Staffing Committee, ensuring that the best possible candidates are recommended
I am writing this letter to make a formal announcement of the position and to extend a formal invitation to member churches to encourage an expression of interest from among your congregations to apply and thereby join the CWM Staff team. Additionally, I seek your assistance to publish this position on your church website and to help identify, approach and encourage potential candidates to consider applying for the position of the General Secretary.
Above all, I invite you to pray along with us on the new journey that is ahead of us. In whatever way you would be ready to participate in the search process, please get in touch with the Chairperson of the Search Committee, or your respective Church’s General Secretary.
An “Information Pack for Applicants”, comprising information on CWM, a copy of the General Secretary’s role, duties and other relevant information together with an application form, are attached below.
