CWM hosted a delegation from the Foundation for Theological Education in South East Asia (FTESEA), whose mission is to foster ongoing development of contextual theological thought, education and formation of Christian leaders in Asia and the Pacific. The delegation comprised Chair of the Executive Committee Dr David Esterline, Executive Director Dr Wati Longchar, Trustee Dr Dorcas Gordon, and former Executive Director Dr HS Wilson, who visited the CWM Office in Singapore on 13 May 2023.

CWM Mission Secretary for Mission Programme and Partnerships Rev. Julie Sim introduced CWM’s vision, mission, and programmatic engagement with member churches and ecumenical partners. This was followed by a presentation by CWM Deputy General Secretary for Programmes Dr Sudipta Singh on CWM’s The Onesimus Project, especially “education for liberation”, one of its four primary areas of focus.

During the visit, CWM and FTESEA discussed how they could strategise collaboration in programmes in upcoming years, especially in contextual theological education and leadership development. The FTESEA delegation shared about their engagement with partner institutions in the Asia-Pacific for promoting theological education, especially in China. Specifically, they spoke about their priorities and programmatic engagements in Asia and the Pacific. Stemming from FTESEA’s mission, vision and commitment to contextual theological education, its strategic priorities are supporting faculty development, promoting women’s leadership, and enhancing the development of digital and print library resources in Asia.
