Representatives of CWM member bodies and ecumenical partners are gathered in Manila, Philippines from 20-25 April for a theological consultation re-visiting the 1999 CWM/CCA statement The People of God among All God’s Peoples. The consultation, in exploring the challenges facing churches in mission today, seeks to inform CWM’s work with the WCC on reclaiming evangelism as Christian witness in a pluralist world.
Presentations and discussions are along the themes – (1) Ecumenical Perspective on God’s Mission Today, (2) Biblical and Theological Considerations, (3) God’s Mission or Christian Mission: The Challenge of Other Religious Traditions, (4) Mission as an Engagement in Society, (5) Missiological Paradigms and Strategies for Mission, (6) the Context of God’s Mission Today.
A publication on the results and outcomes of the discussions is planned for the end of this year, and a statement highlighting the main themes and offering pointers for the way forward will be shared with CWM’s Council in June.
