Church of Bangladesh (COB) continues outreach to migrant workers in Singapore alongside Anglican Diocese

by CWM Communications Team

Church of Bangladesh (COB) has continued to collaborate with the Anglican Diocese of Singapore on “My Dorm Our Home”, a project to reach out to migrant workers in Singapore, most of whom faced quarantine earlier this year to combat the rising COVID-19 cases. With many local non-profit groups working on projects focusing on their healthcare and nutrition, “My Dorm, Our Home” was aimed at building social cohesion among the workers, and building their skills. Virtual talk shows, fitness shows, discussion panels and even an online singing talent show were organised to connect Bangladeshi migrant workers culturally and keep them occupied with social activities.

In the next phase, the Barisal Youth Society and UNDP organised “Swapno joy Boot Camp”, with interactive digital workshops with local and international professional in various fields to facilitate skill development among the migrant workers and rural youth in Bangladesh. Another programme focused on awareness and mental health, such as protecting oneself from online and phone scams. There are also plans to participate in the global 16 days of activism for elimination of violence against women.
