Twenty-five young men and women from eleven Pacific island countries are currently building their capacity to use social media as part of mission in the 21st century.
These missional youths are part of the Council for World Mission (CWM)’s Pacific Regional Youth Initiative and have gathered in Nadi, Fiji Islands for a week-long workshop which will lead them to craft social media elements to highlight issues affecting young Pacific islanders.
Over the week, activists and advocates for climate and gender justice have shared their experiences and advice on digital storytelling and social media as a tool of social change.
Participants are being introduced to the biblical contexts of social media and online communities through special Bible Studies prepared and led by Rev. Dr. Cliff Bird, Mission Secretary for CWM Pacific region.
The workshop is being facilitated by Rev. James Bhagwan, past Secretary for Communication and Overseas Mission for the Methodist Church in Fiji.
