Martin Luther King Jr. Day: A Tribute

Today marks the USA’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day, where the nation pauses to pay tribute to the legendary leader in the civil rights movement.

King was a political activist, clergyman, writer and theologian; he promoted peace, equality, economic justice and the need to bring an end to racism.

Let us remember today Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. A prominent civil rights activist who changed the world, who with his words alone could change the mindset of many: “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the colour of their skin, but by the content of their character."

He was a Nobel Peace Prize winner and a generally remarkable man, who was tragically assassinated in 1968, but his hope for humanity, his passion and commitment to justice, and promotion of peaceful protest is very much still alive in the hearts of many today.
