Happening Now: The Caribbean Roundtable Meeting – 23 to 26 March

by CWM

The 2015 Caribbean Region Roundtable kicked off last Sunday,  22nd March, with a worship service at a local congregation of the Guyana Congregations Union (GCU) attended by representatives from the GCU, the United Church in Jamaica and the Cayman Islands (UCJCI), Caribbean and North America Council for Mission (CANACOM) and the CWM Regional and Global Offices.  The round table delegation visited other local congregations including Ebenezer Congregational – Ann’s Grove, Zoar Congregational, Plaisance and Ebenezer Congregational- Den Amstel.

The second day , the Roundtable delegation were presented with an opportunity to visit some of the GCU community initiative, a couple of which were the Ebenezer Play School in Den Amstel, and a Micro-Credit supported initiative in a farm in Parika.  These exposure visits were a very engaging and inspiring encounter of the various ministries being undertaken by the church.  They met and talked with people including children whose lives, in one way or another, are being touched and transformed by local churches through their provision of care, and spaces for hope in their communities.

This year’s Roundtable theme, “Reimagining Church in Community – Witness, Influence and Impact,” is being experienced both in action at the exposure programmes and in the on-going sharing sessions of the member churches about their challenges, celebrations and mission engagements,  interwoven with rich worship and fellowship.
