Orissa Christians fear fresh violence after second Hindu murder

Christians in Orissa have braced themselves for fresh attacks of violence following the murder of another senior Hindu activist, Christian Today reported on 7 November.

Dhanu Pradhani, a member of the Hindu nationalist organisation Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), was shot dead by a group of unidentified Maoists.

There are fears that Christians in the region will be targeted in further attacks as a result of the killing. Violence broke out in Orissa back in August after Christians were accused of carrying out the murder of a Hindu leader.

Since the attacks began, more than 50,000 people have been forced to flee from their homes and 300 churches have been torched.
